Capture the stunning beauty of the Capitol Columns at the National Arboretum as the full moon rises, in this exclusive photography class. Don't miss your chance to frame the moon among the columns and witness the magical colors of the sunset sky. Recommended equipment includes a digital SLR or mirrorless camera with manual exposure controls and a zoom lens in the range of 18-200mm.
Students will learn several techniques to make their gold go as far as possible. Skills include making a gold-rimmed silver setting for a faceted stone, making a silver ring with a thin layer of gold on the outer surface, making bi-metal from scratch, making gold over silver patterned sheet, getting clean solder seams where gold meets silver, how to get a deep black on silver when oxidizing and many other tips and tricks.
This is the second teaching engagement in the Washington DC metro area for Alex and presents an incredible opportunity to learn from, and work with, a leading goldsmith and educator. All of his students last time enjoyed working with Alex immensely. If expanding your skill level is something you strive for this workshop will be of interest. We are very fortunate to have had Alex add Jewelryclassdc to his busy schedule.
Additional Fee: Materials cost is approximately 275.00 – 350.00. Students should bring a check, made out to Alex, for the gold purchased
Prerequisite: Experience with soldering and basic metalsmithing tool knowledge is required for attendance at this workshop.
