What you'll learn in this poetry class:

In this six week intensive workshop, participants will write a poetry chapbook of up to 15 pages, and then make a physical book!

In the first four meetings participants will explore how groups of poems work together to create a focused, whole experience. The sessions will include reading model chapbooks and considering various strategies of organization, preparing the poet's manuscript, and critiquing the chapbooks of all participants. In the final two meetings writers will learn about the book-making process, and consider how decisions such as style, paper, and cover choice affect and enhance the whole that is the book. By the end of the workshop each participant will have made two beautiful copies of their chapbook.

First four meetings will be held at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda from 12:00-3:00. The last two sessions will be held at Pyramid Atlantic in Hyattsville, from 11:00-3:00.
