Winter Break Camp (K - 6th Grade)

Winter Art Storm! Budding artists will develop their artistic skills and self-expression by combining drawing, painting, printing, collage and sculpture, in 2D and 3D mixed media works. Students will explore acrylics, pastels, charcoal, watercolor, found objects and fabric.

Schedule:

• Wednesday, December 26- Printing and Card Making – We’ll teach the art of Gelli printing, and each student will go home with one self-framed print. In addition we’ll be making our own stamps and creating thank you cards.
• Thursday, December 27- Mosaics – Our mosaics will be made of stones and glass on jars, bottles and tiles in beautiful patterns.
• Friday, December 28- Painting – Students will follow step by step instructions to create either a landscape or object. Learning the basics of color, shading and composition.
• Wednesday, January 2- Bird Sculptures – For the love of birds! We’ll sculpt, paint and decorate our magnificent feathered friends to be adored by all who look their way.
• Thursday, January 3- Self-Reflection – This is me. Self portraits with mixed media highlighting what we love about ourselves.
• Friday, January 4- Tiny Critters – We’ll make a pocket size critter friend that is sure to follow wherever you go.

Drop off any time between 8-9am. Kids will have free time to draw, paint, play games and explore the Studio before 9am. At 9am the group will gather at the tables and begin the day’s first projects. Once done, there will be a snack break and free time before the second project.

Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended, as well as winter clothes to wear in the backyard (weather permitting). Kids staying after noon can return to their morning projects, as well as have some free time, another snack break and relaxation time.

Please send your child with a snack and a water bottle. If your child is staying past noon please send them with a lunch and a second snack. No food with nuts, please.
