Class Description

Description

This comprehensive online course introduces both beginners and experienced photographers to the rich world of alternative and historic photographic processes, including cyanotype, salted paper, and albumen printing. Explore the technical foundations and artistic possibilities of these time-honored methods while gaining practical knowledge for establishing a dedicated workspace, whether in your kitchen, basement, or professional studio.

Throughout the course, you will engage in live demonstrations, hands-on experimentation, and collaborative group discussions that deepen your understanding of these historic techniques. Work with your own personal images, found objects, or cliché verres to create unique prints while learning safe chemical handling practices and affordable material sourcing. Discover various toning methods and print variations as you develop your technical skill set.

The course balances historical context with contemporary photographic practices, helping you understand the medium's evolution and ongoing relevance.
