Class Description

Description

Many of Washington, D.C.'s monuments display even more impressive beauty when viewed and photographed at night compared to daytime visits. This specialized photo safari is designed specifically for smartphone photographers, taking you to DC's most iconic memorials after dark to teach you where and how to capture stunning images using your mobile device. Furthermore, smartphones continue advancing significantly in low-light photography capabilities every year, with newer models performing much better than previous generations. Current iPhones, Samsungs, Motorolas, LGs, and Google phones demonstrate exceptional performance for hand-held nighttime photography, delivering excellent exposure control, accurate color reproduction, and precise white balance adjustment.

Our safari begins with pickup via our van outside the exit of the Federal Center Metro station on the Blue/Orange/Silver Line, transporting you directly past the Ulysses Grant statue to photograph the magnificent West Front of the United States Capitol building illuminated at night. From this starting point, we proceed up Pennsylvania Avenue toward the architecturally stunning North Portico of the White House, visible from Lafayette Park with its beautifully illuminated fountain as a backdrop.

The next destination is the Tidal Basin parking area, where you'll capture the recognizable Jefferson Memorial reflected in the still waters of the Tidal Basin. Our final stop takes us in front of the Lincoln Memorial, showcasing its famous perspective down the Reflecting Pool, framing the Washington Monument and the United States Capitol in the distance. We also photograph the magnificent Lincoln statue created by sculptor Daniel Chester French, which is beautifully lit in white light. To conclude the experience, we gather for a group photograph, which we will email to all participating clients. Our van then transports you to the Foggy Bottom Metro on the Blue/Orange/Silver Line for your return.
