Class Description

Description

The Monuments and Memorials photo safari offers foundational instruction across all essential aspects of travel photography. You will explore technical concepts, including aperture settings (F-stops), shutter speed controls, white balance adjustment, ISO sensitivity settings, and composition strategies for photographing diverse subjects such as people, sweeping landscapes, and urban cityscapes. Learn to operate your camera confidently in real-world shooting environments with this Washington, DC photography experience, moving beyond classroom theory into practical application.

Following an initial 45-minute orientation covering travel photography techniques and fundamentals, your guided itinerary will take you through the scenic Lafayette Park and past the iconic White House. Your group will then travel by vehicle to the Albert Einstein Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Korean War Memorial; each location provides compelling photographic subjects and learning opportunities. The morning session concludes at Union Station, where you will explore interior photography without flash equipment or tripods. Your instructor will demonstrate advanced techniques, including making busy crowds seemingly disappear from your images and transforming your friends into artistic ghost-like figures. This is a spectacular photography trick.
