  • Intro to Studio Lighting: Still Life & Product

I’m a beginner photographer who barely knows how to use the DSRL camera, especially the manual mode, but this class pushes me and motivates me to learn and take control of the camera, loving more the photography art. I was able to learn about different types of studio lights, the equipment needed, how to measure the light, and how to place your object and background. The teacher was very well knowledgeable his experience with photography I know made a big plus!. I was before the class thinking, yes I can learn or these in social media, google, etc. yes sure all we can. But let me tell you something, nothing like getting the chance to learn from one of the best photographers and getting the chance to practice in a photography studio. After the class a get I knew for sure that still life, and product photography was my path to follow as a photographer.
  • Carson was great! He answered all my questions in a way that I can understand. I learned a lot and feel more confident. Thanks!
  • I think the class was super helpful and definitely achieved the goals of what I wanted out of the class. I am looking forward to applying what I learned to my growing passion for photography!
  • Great class! Perfect time and right amount of attention to each topic.
  • Jim Caldwell was very knowledgeable and willing to share his expert experience. He provided many basics for we beginners, but also practical tips that even experienced photographers would find useful. Great job and and I thoroughly enjoyed the class.
  • Great! Kathy knows how to teach photography on the non professional level. I understand more in a class from her than any class I’ve taken before.
  • Great historic cemetery near Downtown Houston. Great vista towards the skyline, although time of day was difficult for a great shot. Kathy always gives great advice on ways to get the best shot in difficult lighting situations. She also introduced a new concept to me, zoom blur, using some of the angel statuary in the cemetery for a different look to our photos. I never fail to learn something new in one of Kathy's classes.
  • Instructor is very knowledgeable and has a variety of spots within short walking distance to showcase different techniques. Know when sunset is because she may come early and you get some extra pointers!
  • This class taught by Kathy is very informative. She gives a lot of information and references to make money with your camera. She offers many opportunistic ideas to the potential entrepreneur. She offers her knowledge to website design with various DIY on-line web hosts, as well as getting your DBA (Doing Business As) Certificate for starting your own photography business. She offers many ideas to determine what type of photographer you wish to become or are and the avenues of prospect each category of photography can bring. Kathy discusses the Photographer's Market and the variety of venues offered to display your photos. I took many notes on this class and Kathy gives you a handout with pertinent information as well. Very good class for the beginner with a lot of very useful information!
  • Jeff was a patient and thorough instructor; he took us through the camera basics, showed examples, and talked through the options of how we could get the best images. Then, he walked us through 4 different field locations and helped us get photograph them. I found the course to be very useful, informative and enjoyable. Thanks!
