The 7 Forms: Lightsaber Intensive

In the world of high-concept action and sci-fi, "Jedi fighting" is more than just swinging a blade; it is a sophisticated blend of various martial arts traditions, discipline, and storytelling. This intensive is designed to introduce actors to the 7 Forms of Combat, providing a physical vocabulary that transforms a "fight" into a performance. From the defensive "Cage of Light" to the aggressive sweeping arcs of Form V, you will learn to navigate the variety of techniques used in major franchises.

This is an all-levels workshop. Whether you are a beginner or have martial arts experience, the instructor will pair you with partners of a similar level. No lightsaber is required; we will focus on the mechanics of movement, posture, and the philosophy behind each form. Like any martial arts practice, we embrace the idea that there are many ways to approach the craft—this is about adding a specific, highly marketable skill to your toolkit.

What You Will Learn:

• The 7 Forms Shii-Cho: The fundamentals of defense and "not-saber-to-saber" combat. Makashi: One-handed offense, defense, and the art of the salute.
• Soresu: The "Defensive Cage"—mastering blaster bolt redirection.
• Ataru: The mainstay Jedi form—constant, fluid movement.
• Shien: The "Power Form"—aggressive leaps, rolls, and sweeping arcs.
• Niman: The "Diplomat’s Form"—focusing on disarms, harmony, and justice.
• Juyo: The rare, "god-like" execution of all forms combined.

The Result:

You will walk away with a sharpened sense of physical presence and a unique specialty for your resume. You'll leave knowing how to correctly execute (and pronounce) the forms that casting directors look for in major sci-fi and action auditions. As we say in the shop: remember us when you’re headlining Star Wars XXI.
