A five-week scripted comedy TV Development class!
This class will provide you with the essentials of scripted comedy TV development. You’ll learn to write a 2-4 page pitch document, focusing on crucial elements like logline, tagline, story, structure, characters, world-building, plot, tone, and the “why.” These practical skills will empower you to transform your ideas into compelling TV shows. The class will also include exercises in giving and receiving development notes and pitching practice, using a unique "pitch a pitch" strategy. Expect a challenging creative workload with plenty of conversation, rewriting, and pitching. By the end of the five-week course, we will help you develop your idea into a fully-fledged, pitchable TV show, equipping you with the tools to repeat this process again and again.
Homework: Bring at least 3 original TV show loglines and/or premises to pitch. The ideas should have variety to them in terms of format and tone (in other words, don't only bring 3 animated sci-fi for adult swim ideas). Note that decent amounts of writing will be expected between each class.
- Note: Class may end between 9:30PM - 10:00 PM depending on the number of enrollments.
- This class does not end In a class show.
Zoom link will be provided to enrolled students.
