Class Description

Description

One of the finest locations for sunrise photography in the nation can be found from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, overlooking the Reflecting Pool. This sunrise photo tour of the National Mall, led by Washington Photo Safari director E. David Luria provides participants with the unique opportunity to photograph the sun as it rises in the east, illuminating the US Capitol building and the Washington Monument, then casting its golden light across the grey walls of the Lincoln Memorial itself. Throughout the tour, Mr. Luria works with you to ensure your images have correct exposure and white balance, guiding you through manual mode settings and demonstrating how to use the Kelvin color temperature scale if your camera includes this feature.

The tour also includes a visit to the nearby Vietnam Memorial to capture the striking reflection of the Washington Monument in the dark granite wall. Weather permitting, you will proceed to the Potomac River area to photograph the golden early morning light illuminating the iconic Memorial Bridge and the downtown Rosslyn buildings. Dramatic cloud formations will add depth and visual interest to your photographs. The combination of iconic landmarks and natural light makes this an exceptional photography learning opportunity.
