Class Description
Description
Eugene Delacroix once said, “If you are not skillful enough to sketch a man jumping out of a window in the time it takes him to fall to the ground, you will never be able to produce great works.” Indeed, Delacroix was a speedy draftsman, and a forceful painter. Though he has always been considered influential, he has never had an American retrospective…until now.
Together, we will see how this Romantic master eschewed perfection; instead, he aimed for dynamism and a level of feeling that can only come through swiftness.
