Are you passionate about sports, but currently find yourself challenged when it comes to capturing the desired action and stories in your images? Whether you are shooting a youth softball game or a professional basketball game, the demands are the same: you want to achieve tack-sharp focus in your pictures while also capturing the magical moments of the game to tell its story. However, there are many different challenges and decisions a sports photographer faces during any game environment while shooting.
USA Today Sports Images photographer, Wendell Cruz, will use the vast insight and experience he’s acquired while in the field to help you solve some of these issues by walking you through the technical aspects of sports photography.
This workshop will cover topics such as:
- Camera settings and shooting angles for sports photography
- Which camera and lens are best suited for your needs
- Sports photography framing and compositional tips
- Telling the story of the game through your images
- Editing and post-processing techniques for sports images
You will come away from this workshop knowing how to capture, compose, and edit high-quality sports images that tell the story of the game.
Requirements: Please bring your camera fully charged along with empty memory cards. There will be a PowerPoint presentation to be followed by an actual outdoor shoot to practice what you learned. Students attending this workshop should be familiar with their cameras and with manual settings (i.e., shutter speed, aperture).
