Description

Create a unique wall-mounted shelf that appears to float impossibly in space. Using hidden mounting hardware, a floating shelf presents a contemporary look that beautifully highlights the inherent grain patterns of fine wood and the objects placed upon it. A floating shelf with natural live-edge wood makes an exceptional home decoration or thoughtful present for someone special.

In this beginner-appropriate workshop, you will select your own distinctive live-edge timber and practice using routers and hand planes, plus develop knowledge of wood finishes, their preparation methods, and application approaches.

Important consideration: You will need to measure and identify the wall stud locations where you plan to mount your shelf to guarantee sufficient structural capacity.
