Explorations in Musical Theatre for Children (ages 6-7) offers a dynamic introduction to the art of musical theatre. Students are invited to explore, play, and collaborate with peers as part of a supportive ensemble community.
The course begins with interactive games and exercises designed to build collaborative skills, strengthen ensemble dynamics, and introduce fundamental storytelling techniques. Working together as a group, students will experience different classic musicals, such as The Wizard of Oz, Annie, and The Lion King. Each session focuses on one musical, allowing students to develop acting and performance skills by rehearsing scenes and working with accompanists during vocal warmups and technical exercises.
The class concludes with a showcase performance where students present their work to friends and family. This ongoing course can be repeated across multiple semesters, allowing students to deepen their skills and explore additional musicals.
