Description

This class is geared towards players who already have some familiarity with Irish music and want to learn more about the finer points of the traditional style as heard in recordings of the masters. We will learn some slightly more challenging tunes, covering various common rhythms such as jigs, reels, hornpipes, and slip jigs. We will listen to great fiddle players of the past century from Michael Coleman to Martin Hayes, exploring the commonalities and differences between various regional and personal styles of Irish fiddle playing.

We will focus on developing good bowing habits, and work on ornamentation such as rolls, triplets, and double stops. Tunes will be taught in a hybrid method to accommodate different learning styles - focusing on the oral tradition, while also working with sheet music for those who read. By the end of the semester we will have some fun, common tunes under our belt that will be great to play at any traditional seísiun!

Refund Policy

Full refund less 5% cancellation fee or full credit for another session of classes are available until 4 business days before your 1st class begins.
If you cancel your registration 2 business days before your 1st or 2nd class begins, a partial prorated school credit can be given.
If your class has met 3 times or it is less than 24 hours before your 3rd class, no credit is available.

The school reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration.

If the school cancel a class due to low enrollment or other reasons, you will be notified by email and/or phone before the class start date, and we will issue school credit. If you would like a refund, you must contact us at [email protected] to arrange for a refund. In the event of a canceled class, we would love to help you find an alternate instrument to learn!

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
