This certification course covers EPA regulations effective as of April 2010. Contractors performing renovation, repairs, and painting work must complete training and obtain certification in lead-safe work practices before undertaking work on older housing.
New certification is required for all home improvement activities that disturb more than six square feet of interior lead paint or twenty square feet of exterior lead paint in housing constructed before 1978, and in any child-occupied facility. Renovation firms must have at least one certified Renovator who has completed EPA training and obtained both individual and firm certifications from the Environmental Protection Agency.
This course teaches comprehensive safe work practices to renovators, remodelers, painters, carpenters, and professionals who regularly work with lead-based paint. Topics covered include containment strategies, hazard minimization techniques, and proper cleanup procedures for lead hazards. Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, students receive an official certificate of course completion.
