Need to shorten a pair of pants? Or alter a dress to make it fit right?

This class can save you a lot of time and money. And maybe you get inspired to start a new sewing hobby!

During this course you will learn:

to alter one garment. We suggest starting with pants, it's easier than a dress/top.

Then in your second class you could learn to alter dress/skirt/top/etc!

basic sewing on a machine and some hand sewing if needed for the project.

Project: Adjust and perfect the fit of one garment.

Fabric & Supplies: Students bring one garment to be altered in class.

Class size: 1-2 people, (two friends can sign up together)

Note: This class is for women students only.

Private lessons are subject to instructor availability. Exact time slot TBD with class provider.

I came to the Alterations private class with the intention of really understanding how to alter clothes so they actually fit me. For many years I've worn oversized tops, boxy shirts, and so forth. This was an ambitious venture for me: how to keep my beloved garments but update them to my actual (slim) measurements. I found Ingvild a very reassuring person. In fact, she had such a reassuring presence that I was able to discuss frankly the aspects of my figure I wanted to de-emphasize. I came home excited about the various ways I can remake the garments I already own. I am pleased that I signed up for time with her.

Very useful class! Ingvild was lovely and I liked the way she set up the class, having me bring in a couple items and work on them together while explaining everything and giving me instructions for continuing.
