Sewing 101 - Stripe Patchwork Pillow

By the end of this 3-hour beginner sewing class, you’ll complete your own stripe patchwork pillow cover to jazz up your space with something homemade, removable and washable.

We will cover things like:

• How to use a sewing machine
• Proper pinning and cutting techniques
• Fabric 101
• How to construct a removable washable pillow cover

Prerequisites: No sewing experience required! Perfect for first-timers, absolute beginners, or anyone in need of a hands-on refresher.

What is Included: All tools, notions, and instruction for the workshop.

Note: This does not include materials. Materials can be purchased separately or brought from home.

What do you need to bring?

Materials are available for purchase in the studio with a 10% student discount. Make sure to come 15 minutes early to shop. You are also welcome to bring your own materials however please note materials policy.

The following materials are needed to create a striped pillow:

• ½ yard cotton woven fabric for stripe #1 (quilter’s cottons best - no synthetics no stretch)
• ½ yard cotton woven fabric for stripe #2 (quilter’s cottons best - no synthetics no stretch) 3 yards of ½ inch trim for ties. Claps, beads, etc to finish the ends are optional
• 16” pillow form

Note: If the materials brought by the student are not appropriate for the project or they forget them, students can purchase fabric and trim the time of class however unless you pre-purchase the pillow form there might not be extra available.
