Graphic Design Summer Program (High School)
I find it really convenient that there is an ebook because if you miss something or want something to look back on, you can always refer to the lesson plan. I also like how the class content relates it back to purpose: why does this matter? How can you apply this to everyday life? How can you use this concept in other programs? -

Java Programming Summer Program (High School)
I really enjoyed the goal-oriented nature of the course. Instead of only learning about the theory behind computing, we got a chance to apply what was being taught by writing code and putting everything together to build something practical. Also, we covered a wide range of topics aside from just programming like a little bit of computer hardware, files & file formats, and HTML. After taking this class, I feel like there are so many more possibilities and applications of computer science than I originally thought. Overall, I was really impressed with how well-designed the course was. -

It is a fast-paced program where the teachers do a great job of making sure everybody is keeping up. The projects and assignments were challenging and interesting as well. The only con for me was the age gap between students but it wasn't a big problem. -

Computer Science Summer Program (High School)
I learned a lot of Java in only 9 days. The instructor was a high school teacher and he's been teaching coding for almost 20 years. He was very patient with everyone and made sure everyone understood the content. We were given breaks and a nice long lunchtime. There were a lot of topics covered but it wasn't overwhelming. -

Computer Science Summer Program (High School)
My son attended the NextGen Camp during the summer of 2019 for 2 sessions in NYC. There are way too many positive things I can say about the staff and curriculum. Everything deserves 5 stars. Zach, the owner of the program was tremendously supportive, informative and knowledgeable about the computer science world. He advised us on what courses to take and even spent the time interviewing my son to see which program would be the best fit. He was just so patient and helpful. My son has been coding for years, but there were many gaps, we learned. The two programs he did helped him realize his holes, filled them and propelled him to learn more deeply about CS and stay passionate. What more can a camp do! If you are looking for a serious, real-deal coding camp with strong, friendly instructors who can communicate and teach - NextGen is the best summer computer science camp in the NYC area. -

Make It Camp: DIY Room Decor
The instructor, Lara Kazan, has a background in fashion design and does an amazing job of teaching the kids how to use an actual sewing machine (there is some hand sewing, but my daughter made 5 or so pieces in a week on the sewing machine) as well as how to make a variety of different things out of different materials. I love that a lot of upcycling and custom pattern making was taking place and each piece was unique and well-considered and not a cookie-cutter project. My daughter still uses a fanny pack she made here daily. At pick up time all of the kids seemed to be having too much fun to want to leave and I felt like I had stepped into a real fashion studio with people buzzing around, draping fabric on each other and working the machines. The kids really seemed to be into it! We look forward to spending more time here this summer. -
Culinary Travels Camp (1-Day Camper)(Ages 4-8)
Course was run well, super fun, food is great. Would definitely do it again! -
Make It Camp: DIY Room Decor
My daughter has some experience with sewing from various classes but the projects were always too simple or not practical. Lara's Make it class was the perfect balance between learning how to actually sew and making something that my daughter could actually wear and be proud of (jean purse...amazing). Lara's relaxed style, yet patient teaching directive, made the three hours fly by. She allows the kids to create and enjoy the process but is also realistic and knows they want to walk away with a finished product. Not only does my daughter wear the purse she made but has offered to sew torn pillow cases, and other things to keep up her sewing skills. It was a delight taking this class with Lara and I would highly recommend her! -
Make It Camp: DIY Room Decor
I've had my girls attend two of Make It Studio's workshops and they had a blast! They made these adorable Sock bunnies during the Easter PEEP making workshop, and fantastic earrings out of pom poms, sequins, and beads at the last one we went to. It was great to see them being creative and making substantial things. Lara, the owner/instructor is so great with the kids and her background as a designer in the fashion industry definitely shows through. -
Urban Foodies Camp: Around the World (Ages 11-16)
A little less of a survey of different types of food than I thought, but it was a winner. -

Fashion Summer Camp for Tweens - Midtown
This is a little gem of a studio! My daughter has done a sewing class, a styling class, an evening gown illustration class and a one-day camp and has loved them all. From day one she was sewing and designing and she shows off her portfolio very proudly. It's unlike any other kid's classes I've found in the City. I highly recommend it for little fashion designers. -
